Cero e Luce, Gifties, and a few Piccies!

Saturday morning, Holly and I were taking our sweet time getting ready for the day when Bianca came running into the pavillion, telling us to "come, quick....NOW!" I was kind of worried, but then I saw court being held. Then I thought they were going to do something for mah hubby, since Quest is his "first" camping events or something. But no....me in mah half-finished garbing (well, everything but veil and hair) was called into court, to recieve the only award I have *ever* coveted...the Cero e Luce!!! OMG HAPPY DANCE!!!!!!!!!!! I was so happy, shaking, and trying not to be a big 'ole boob....

Can you even believe that the wonderful ladies who worked on this scroll have been doing scribal arts for only six months or so?!?! It's beautiful! You can't really see all the whitework, but it's completely exquisite. I'm so pleased!


I found out that the only reason that Holly made it to Quest was to be there for my award....I loves me mah friends!!!! (She gave up a dog show for me, that's a *big deal*!!!!)

I know I've mentioned it only once or twice, but I *LOVE* mah friends!!! Holly made me a new zibie with the halter-style decorations. He's a stone marten, and is adorably cute! Unfortunately even with the rain, not once was it near chilly enough to carry him around. I'm sure Uprising will bring many, many opportunities! I loves the little guy, he has so much personality! :D


Holly also made a beautiful jewelry set for my Sero e Luce. I *love* wearable awards! :D And it's all pearly and red and gold....can't be more perfect!!!!!!! (And spaaaaarkly!)

Weekend Plans Go Awry...

I was SO SICK yesterday, I spent the entire day on the couch, sleeping my life away. *ugh* I'm glad I made the frosting well before I got sick, or I would have 200 cupcakes worth of frosting to throw away. I still have not frosted the cupcakes, I'll be doing that this afternoon just in time for the wedding tonight. I also have my family bbq in a couple of hours, hopefully I'll make it through the rest of the day!

As I was making tea this morning, I spied a fox walking along the ditch in the field across the road! I grabbed my phone as quick as I could, but he all but dissapeard behind the large bush in the center of the picture. Nature is good and all that, as long as they leave my widdle puppies alone. (Kinda makes me nervous)


Holly sent me a picture of the jewelry for my CC dress.....OMG I am so excited! (Yay Holly!)

Red Velvet con't

Upon closer inspection, it is starting to look like the bertha/collar thing is ONLY on the front. There is a ridge on the shoulder seam that looks like the collar dissapears into. If this is the case, then I think my whole "well, how do I get into it if it's solid all the way around" problem is solved. I still, however, need to figure out a way to attach it to the shoulder without looking like poo.

I've asked Holly if she'd be willing to take on a commission for the jewelry...I'll see what she says! ;)

Happy Pretty Dresses!

I'm wearing my happy birthday to me dress (on the left), Suzie is in the middle, and Holly is wearing the OMG I can't believe I made that in a weekend dress (on the right). The shirt is old, old, old from her red satin venetian I made a few years ago, but thankfully it matched well enough I didn't have to make a new shirt. I will be posting more piccies in my Gallery shortly, if you wanna peeksee at 'em.

BTW, look at Holly's cool new zebbellini hanging from her belt! (Better pics in the Gallery...)

All jewelry for both of us and the zebeliini were made by the Super Fantastic Holly. (I am so jealous of her little guy...but she's making me one soon, so it's ok.) I'm so glad that we have complimenting artistic inclinations!

There were some shirt-gappage issues due to a missing pearl pin for my shirt, and the fabric is verysheer in the sunlight. I had no idea until after the pictures were taken! Also the lacing is a bit wonky from wearing the dress for a few hours and sloppy lacing on my part. The muff is a 'secret purse' which pattern I will be modifying before Estrella.

Oh yeah, and I am quite pleased with myself. The hems on both of our gowns were done with the sheer power of geometry alone! No trimming, no fitting (other than "ok, yeah it worked!", and it's good that it worked too...'cause I had already cartridge pelated the whole stupid thing), and the bottom edges of both are on the straight grain to get rid of that annoying "sag" bias stretch in front where the bodice dips. You do need math in real life! Who woulda thunk it! My mom would be so proud.

Oh yeah, the other reason I'm so chuffed with me? Those laces on my shirt? Yeah, I made those. The adorable tiny tassels on the ends? Yeah, those too! But I'm weird like that.**
